Just had a phone call with a friend in New Zealand. Not only that she is now doomed to do home office, after new cases of Covid in Auckland, where she works during week, have been detected. This she hates, because her working hours now overlap with the coming-home of her three kids - and believe me, I would consider emigration if I had to cope with this bunch of rowdies. Usually her mother takes care of the three until mum´s back home, but now that mum is home all the time granny decided that a break was in order. Good for grandma, bad for my friend. There also has been a formidable earthquake some hours ago, which rattled my friend´s house to the point that things went tumbling down, and she thought this quake is the strongest she remembers. The kids have already been brought to the safer inland of the peninsula by a neighbour. They were told there might be a tsunami, and she has had to pick up her mother who does not drive anymore, to get onto the small hills next to town. Considering it has been in the middle of the night when the quake happened the drive uphill must have been a strenuous one. I know those narrow streets well enough that I would not want to drive there in the dark, with so many cars trying to get off the coast. As much as I love this country and the sea around it I could do without all those earthquakes they have! Nevertheless it´s a real shame that with each passing month of self-isolation my chances dwindle to get there again!

Oh my! We might be back in lockdown but at least we aren't likely to get a tsunami!

It puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

They did not have a tsunami with the first quake. Don't know what will happen after the second, even heavier one. You are so right, better quarantine than quake.

No tsunami after the first quake. Not so sure what happened after the second, even heavier one. As you have said, better quarantine than quake.
