Since it was grey and rainy outside today hubby and I decided to forego working in the garden. We don´t want the sniffles (again). Instead I did inventory of my stock of wool. Too much of it, as I thought. So I went through crocheted blankets on Pinterest. Yes, there´s a lot of it. Unfortunately the ones I like aren´t for free. This one was my favourite:

Alas, no free pattern available anymore. And I will not pay for a thing I cannot have at least a tiny peek into, so that I can decide if I am able to read the pattern at all.

My friend found this blanket. Looks nice and easy to do, just handy for baby on the way.

Friend thinks that in time the two of us will be able to decipher the different patterns of the first blanket, while I am not so sure. Plus, this blanket is designed for beach, not that in times of Corona we will be allowed to travel there, but you never know. Well, next year maybe... Tomorrow I will sort the wool by colour, and only then I will decide what to do.
Being married plus both of us retired has at least one advantage: I have to do only half of the housework, the other does hubby. Even if we get up late all chores are done before lunch, washing laundry included. Never in my life have I read so many books in such a short time, because otherwise I´d be bored to death. But today daughter mine showed me the first episode of the Witcher. Yes, the lady has a Netflix account but did not tell me. Not that I won´t get my own, but it was nice to see husband mine cringe in front of the TV. This man so is not made for fantasy!

I know what you mean. Before Mum's accident we had our clearly defined area where housework was concerned and neither of us was overworked. Now I've got to do everything, plus Mum still needs help in many things, even though she's improving nicely, so I'm permanently exhausted, not to mention brain dead, which isn't good for writing. *sigh*

I like both blankets, actually, although you're right, the second one is more fitting for a baby. I wish I could crochet. Although I might need to re-learn knitting first, assuming I ever find the time for it. My trusted old knitted vest (inherited from Grandma) is about to leave me: the yarn it's made of has begun to dissolve due to excessive use and old age, and I have no idea what am I supposed to wear when I'm at home... which is practically all the time. *double sigh*

It is very convenient when there´s someone to help with domestic work, especially with hoovering up, since it is always husband dearest who chooses the brand of a new vacuum cleaner, and it has never been one which might help with my house dust mite allergy. Knitting is balm for the soul for me. I can´t really picture why I hated it so much when young!

I really like that second one — and it would be lovely for a baby.

It will be lovely in time. But first I will have to stock up on wool in more fitting colours.
