Behind closed doors
Apr. 24th, 2021 07:18 pmToday I locked myself in the bedroom. We had had breakfast early, because husband mine was to help number three to install the new dishwasher before the new tenant will bring in her furniture. He wandered out of the house, I wandered upstairs to dress for the day, when I remembered that we were in dire need of chicken hubby should buy on his way home. wWhat I am trying to say is that it was he who had invited number two plus family for lunch on Sunday, so it was his job to bring in the groceries. In a hurry to get to him in time I tore at the bedroom handle- and held it in my hand. Door was not impressed and decided to stay closed. Okay, this happens now and then. Not that bad, you think? Depends on what the one with the loose handle will do now. I clearly did the wrong thing, or better, I did the right thing the wrong way. My spectacles only work for me when it comes to distance. What I should have done was remove them before going into action mode. But no, I kept them on and missed the splint, this way shoving it into the hole and out of reach. A big screwdriver would have come handy then, but honestly, who goes to bed with a screwdriver! So I knocked. And called. And knocked again. It took daughter mine quite a while until she noticed that all that knocking and yelling was not a part of her morning dreams but very real, and she finally got up and let me out. I wonder if the young lady would hear a burglar sneaking around, but I think she´d sleep through the housebreak.
I did my daily chores then the cooking, when number one practically invited himself for tomorrow, too. When he heard of number two´s coming he decided to move up the visit and came today, whole family in tow. And next Friday it is Elsa-time again! We will meet up at mum´s house for Romanian Easter. Not a fun thing for me, because it is mostly lamb that will get served. I hate lamb! And I need an easy cake recipe made of yeast dough, as is custom in Romania for Easter. Pregnant daughter-in-law asked me to help her out with the cake. Me! Cake! Oh dear, we may as well expect the worst...
Oh, and I have a Netflix account now. Witcher, I´m coming for you!

Date: 2021-04-24 06:47 pm (UTC)In our house it's the toilet door that can trap you. When we had guests — no such thing in these times — we always had to warn them not to close the toilet door behind them... well, not entirely, or else getting out might have been problematic.

Date: 2021-04-25 05:27 pm (UTC)Zutaten:
1. 20 gr frische Hefe
2. 1 Teel. Zucker
3. 5 Eßl lauwarme Milch
4. 50 gr Zucker
5. 125-250 ml lauwarme Milch (wieviel der Teig aufnimmt)
6. 100 gr Butter oder Margarine
7. 1 Prise Salz
8. geriebene Schale von 1/2 Zitrone
9. 1 Ei
10. 500 gr Weizenmehl
So wird's gemacht:
- mische Zutaten 1-3 sorgfältig und laß die Mischung auf Zimmertemperatur gehen für 15 Minuten (=Vorteig);
- mische Zutaten 4-9;
- siebe das Mehl durch, rühre es unter die Mischung, gebe dazu den aufgegangenen Vorteig und knete das ganze Ding für mindestens 5 Minuten, bis der Teig glatt ist und nicht mehr and die Wand der Rührschüssel klebt;
- laß den Teig zugedeckt auf einem warmen Ort gehen, bis er das Volumen verdoppelt hat (mindestens 30 Minuten, aber ich lasse ihn normalerweise eine Stunde gehen);
