Had my first jab today then drove to number one to help hubby with Xaver. Number one is doing well the day after vaccination. I wonder why so many working people complain about getting sick, must be because they can skip work a couple of days. Those pensioners I know, and there are many, had an ache at the injection site at most. Then again, pensioners cannot call in sick anymore. Let´s hope that number one won´t have a bad day tomorrow, or we will have to supervise Xaver once more. Three days of sulkiness are enough. And now we are waiting for daughter-in-law, who wants to bring her child for the time she will do her Covid test, one she needs because husband mine has invited the family for dinner on Sunday. Great, just great! Sunday is Mother´s day here, and I hoped that I´d be spared cooking, but this is not the case. Number two loves beef roulade, so hubby has bought 2 kilos beef escalope. It will take a long time to fill and roll it up. At least I can use my meat hammer to blow off steam.
Outside a storm is rioting. I had to fish the garden chairs out of the pool. The olive trees got blewn across the car port, seems that I will have to do a run to the garden centre tomorrow, to buy new pots, because the old ones are in pieces. That´s a real shame, because I liked the design, hopefully I will get similar ones!
Namo is not doing well- again. He has stopped eating and gets hand fed now. I am not so sure if he will make it to his sixteenth birthday on the 17th of May. Number four is very unhappy because he has claimed Namo as his cat. Daughter did the same with Vaire, and I once was the owner of Nienna cat, but this one is long gone. Now I am the one who has to put food into the bowls and clean the litter boxes. Fun things with cats are done by my offspring...

It is really funny with the jab. Mum had no side effects whatsoever, with her 89.5 years, while my arm was swollen and itchy and ached for a week after my second jab.

It's a shame that you have to slave over a hot oven on Mothers' Day. One would think the younger generation would band together to spare their mother on this particular day. :(

I like cooking, but not on Mother's Day, and even less when it's supposed to be 28 degrees outside and the next bad weather is looming at the borders already...

Glad to hear you are now on the route to being covid protected. I do think it is mean of your family to expect you to cook on Mothers' Day though!

Slowly but surely I get used to this. I have been cooking on Mother´s Day when I was young. I did it for my grandma, because my mother always had been a horrible cook. Then I did it for mum, she never wanted to go out for lunch on that special day, because all restaurants would be so crowded, or so she said. And now I do the cooking for the younger ones- it´s that or bring home a meal from a take-out, because restaurants here are still closed.

You need to drop into conversation that your friend, namely me, told you that we used to gather at my Mother's house, too — but we all brought something so that she didn't have to cook. At first just my sister and I would take food but, as the grandchildren got old enough to help they also made something.

This is indeed a splendid way to have a full dinner without too much of work!
