Ascension Day

Good morning to those who are reading this blog. It's Thursday the 13th, Ascension Day where I live. Outside it is 8 degrees and raining like mad. Summery days are gone, the rest of May is supposed to stay cool and very, very wet. Since hubby, insightful as he is, left the kitchen window open, I only had to hunt two very big spiders down which intended to weather the Schafskälte inside the house. But spiders are under perpetual entry ban here. The only difference to Corona importers is: get caught, and you are as good as dead. I am deadly afraid of spiders, sorry, spider lovers, and at my age I won't invest in psychological aid but in well-working brooms instead, sorry again. Those were the days, when my cats were young and the moment a spider tried to cross the room it got chased and used as a cat toy until cats decided to consume the bugger. Now the ugly beasts may wander right under their nose, and cats will only stare at them and wonder what had once made them go after those big black dots. Only when the big bad broom arrives cats will trot off to let me do my job.
Hubby has forgotten to book a time slot for another covid test so that he'd be able to leave town. Son wants him to transport a sofa to our house. Now hubby tries to find a rat run for his endeavour. Good luck for him, because it´s either carry the car over the hill range or swim down the river with it. The roads that lead out of town are all blocked by police...
Now that hubby´s field of activity is restricted he concentrates on domestic activities. Hubby wants cake. I see what´s looming ahead for me. Since I have never ever seen him baking I will have to do it myself, or invest 12 to 15 Euro in three slices of cake. Thank heavens, there are three more oranges hidden in the fruit bowl, so orange cake it will be!
