Today I might have overslept. Might, because I got woken from deep slumber by a constant background noise from downstairs- hubby was vacuuming the ground floor at 7.30 in the morning. He has bought (himself) a new vacuum cleaner which also can wipe the floor, and he is floored by it. Good for me, I hope he continues with cleaning, but, please, not at such an ungodly time! It´s very rare that I sleep longer than five in the morning, so why not let me do it just this once? After breakfast husband was off to do more grocery shopping. After all he has been intently scanning advertising we got for this week. I will have to have a talk with our postman. No more advertising folders, please, our fridges are on the verge of exploding! Tomorrow will be hamhamburger day (Cassian will be with us), but there are so many groceries that need instant processing that grandchild better be the only one who has to eat such an epitome of Donald´s no-go cuisine!
I did fried spring rolls for dinner and almost threw a tantrum. Never had spring rolls that went into the deep fryer intent on doing the hop! I could watch them going after each other to catch their brothers and sisters in time, when they were still sticky enough to glue together! But they were tasty, and nothing else matters!
We have a mini storm outside where there should be none. It was supposed to be sunny today. When I got up we had two inches of fresh snow which disappeared quickly, when it got replaced by rain. Those Christmas balls I was not able to get off the tree branches because of my shortness are now spread all over the garden. This winter is a disaster for the western part of our country: not enough snow, temperatures too high often, and lots of guests spreading the virus. It´s not only Boris who kicks over the traces (though he better be a good example), here we too have politicians and millionaires who meet up for illicit après-ski parties, and promptly get sick afterwards! The main thing is that we ordinary people stick to the rules. If not, there´s a whole scale of penalties waiting for us!

Family... you can't live with them and you can't live without them. *voice of experience speaking, even though there's only the two of us — it was even more volatile when we still had Grandma*

Over here, one of the (apparently) name-worthy virologists (although I never heard of him before) announced via radio that he had all three of his jabs, and now he's waiting to get infected (WTF?) because once he went through Covid, he'd be safe forever with that background. So, apparently, three jabs plus an infection is the way to go. And so-called serious experts spew this nonsense in the official radio (we call it Royal Rundfunk with Mum). *facepalm*

Here they say the same... that three jabs won't help against Omikron. If you get the disease you hopefully will have less severe symptoms. There will be new mutations soon, which will have more in common with Omikron than Delta, and the old vaccines will definitely be useless. New vaccines are on the way but not here yet, besides, some experts think the combination vaccination- infection will be most successful way to battle the virus!

And in the meantime people keep dying...

I am not so sure about the symptoms of Omikron. Already our hospitals begin to fill again. Less people are dying, though. But, to be earnest, it was to be expected that there'd be many victims during the pandemic with so many old people. I admire that you're keeping your mum safe by cutting down on social life!

Your husband vacuuming made me smile — I bought us a new, cordless, vacuum some time ago and my husband immediately 'took over' and does almost all the vacuuming. Of course he never read the instruction book and only realised a couple of weeks ago that it has 3 strength settings and he has only ever used the middle one...

A stylish cordless vacuum cleaner has to be the equivalent to a child´s toy to a man, while a robotic vacuum cleaner like our Robby is not. Must be because the robot has a mind of his own...
