Long time no see

Instead of doing the baking for tomorrow in the afternoon I will have to improvise some snack, because a former student of mine will pay a visit. She has not been here since the beginning of Covid, and, frankly sspeaking, she´d better stay at her home for the next weeks, because in her father´s firm they have a lot of Covid cases. Well, the lady is older than my number one and works in the bureau only, while the Covid-cases are among the technicians and mechanics, with whom she has no contact, at least she told me so, but the devil never sleeps! Besides, the lady also loves to have a drink or two, and I detest to let her drive back home this way. Until now I never managed to convince her that taking a cab might be better than losing the driving license... The lady is also one who, after having her drinks, does not want to return home. Last time she was here I practically had to chuck her out, because hubby finally wanted his peace. At that point she had been with us for five hours. So wish me luck that this time she will leave by her own accord! She said she´d come at 4 in the afternoon, apparently she is late...

Perhaps you'll be lucky and she won't come at all? In any case, good luck. (Try to hide any kind of alcohol, maybe that way she'll decide not to stay too long.)

She did come, although late, and she always is the one who brings the alcohol, so hiding my stash is of no use.

I have been known, occasionally, to 'remember' a church meeting that, sadly, I really must attend if they don't mind...

Oh, and on one occasion when my phone beeped (actually a email coming in that needed nothing done about it at all) I told them I'd just got a message from my daughter asking if I could pick up one of the children, as she had been caught up with something at work!
