Knocked out
Nov. 11th, 2023 06:45 pm Cooking was a tedious affair, as hubby was off half of the morning, searching for a drill none of our DIY markets had in store. He forgot that he had given number two a set with exactly this drill- problem solved. So maybe he can work on the new shower panel tomorrow!
First thing on my work list this morning- do glaced maroni. For the first time I did not burn the sugar on the first attempt, so done. Red cabbage came from a package and needed a bit of seasoning only- done, too. Potato dumplings would have been easy, if only hubby had not insisted that he wanted them filled with cranberry jam. I did the dough and left him the task of filling. He only killed two dumplings, when he put them into boiling water. I think husband has learned his lesson, or maybe not- next time the filling has to be chestnut puree. Goose was not a problem- I put it into the oven three hours before we wanted to eat, on low temperature. It was ready for consumation at two. And I got the best sauce ever from it! As feared, family number two was late- DiL has a veritable cold, so she slept the day away, while son had the boys and did the cooking- with the quinces DiL wanted for the filling and hubby had to buy in a Turkish grocery shop in the morning. At least he had not forgotten that I want quinces, too, for jam- my favourite one!
Son and daughter arrived at two and had to wait for almost an hour, before lunch got served, but the wait was worth it! During lunch strong winds began to shake the trees, and I had to laugh out loud, when I saw hubby´s reaction. He will have a hard time tomorrow to get all leaves off the lawn! Serves him well!
We got an invitation from son number three, for Elsa´s name day celebration next Sunday. Only that hubby has booked a hotel in Graz- he wants to see more of the town. I for one have seen enough of the town- my godmother lived there, and my sister and I had a good time, when our family went there for a visit.
Oh dear- Cassian helped me unpack the Christmas trees, was nosy, as always, and found the Advent calendar I had bought for him. Now he does not want the one his dad has bought for him anymore. Seems that Schleich dinosaurs are topping Lego!
Now that family number two is off again, the rest of the family called it a day. We are in sleep modus, with daughter and son completely out already. I am very tempted to do the same- collapse into bed, read a bit then turn off the lights...
