Sep. 29th, 2025 06:09 pm Hubby and I have wagered on how long it would take until DiL would fall back to her old ways now that Cassian has started school. Seems that I have won, even though hubby is the one who suffers. The first two times the absence of parents to bring the children to bed was school related. But on Tuesday son has a presentation, and DiL insists on playing basketball. So hubby will bring the boys to bed and wait at the family's house, until one of the parents returns...
My cold got worse, especially the coughing. To not wake hubby I got up early, prepared breakfast and had read the whole newspaper from end to end when hubby dashed down, had a quick breakfast then left in a hurry- apparently there was some special offer on groceries he wanted to buy. Then there were the missing fittings he had to get at the DIY market, which were in fact three different ones. It's really hard here to get the things one needs! But the heating is working now, even though hubby thinks there's some wetness coming from a valve. Dear God, I hope it's because of the deaerating, which always includes some water coming down from the deaerator valve!
I put fresh bedding on daughter's bed (after loading her lounge chair with the clothing she had thrown there). Hubby dragged the metal shelves from the conservatory out onto the terrace, then we brought in the wooden drawer, which I cleaned with wood soap then waxed it. Looks nice even without a wall cupboard. Then again, I have one sitting in the garage, and a place to store wine glasses in case we have guests will be nice!
Minimal cooking got done today, we had gyozas and a salad, a nice nap afterwards and daughter on Whatsapp for the rest of the afternoon- mostly asking What shall I get for the boys, for dad and so on. Tomorrow at this time she will already be on a plane to Istanbul. But she sent me pretty Halloween decoration from the hotel lobby. And I thought that only Americans would decorate so early...
