The smell, oh the smell
Feb. 2nd, 2026 07:01 pm When daughter is at our house my days are highly unproductive. It always starts with a scrumptious breakfast with much laughter and a crossword puzzle that needs to be solved. Today there was also the latest gossip from the airport to be discussed: There was a suitcase brought to LL- had been lost at Istanbul Airport for a while. Since there was an awful smell emanating from the suitcase it was opened by our airport police. In were various rotting parts of animals. The woman who had come to pick up the suitcase was so put out about the meat being thrown straight into the organic bin- she so had wanted to eat those beavers! The lady was reported- not because of the illegal meat but because she had attacked a policeman. Afterwards daughter and I continued with the jigsaw, baked a mango cheese cake, I repaired daughter's work trousers and told her to switch to her old winter boots- the velcro at the back of her new ones will tear the hemline open again in no time! I am pretty sure this won´t stick with daughter mine- her new boots are very fancy and she loves them so much! I had to cook two different sauces for today´s spaghetti- one with seafood, one with salmon. Too much squid in the seafood mixture hubby has bought at the market, and squid is one thing my body doesn't tolerate, medication or not. To counter the fishy smell in the house daughter and I baked blackberry muffins with the new baking moulds she had wished for her birthday, but only after a long after-lunch rest I spent with reading. In all honesty- even if she will take one tray with her for her colleagues at work, who will eat the other twelve muffins? We also have cheesecake! But the smell of baked things had been nice- too nice for hubby, because he quickly set things right and did another batch of bacon jam. One can never have enough of it...
