...do critters always show up when husband is away? Daughter had just left for bed when I heard a telltale buzzing in the living room, and indeed, a few seconds later a fat beetle marched along the TV screen. I gently (because of the TV, which is highly sensitive when it comes to swats) swatted it onto the TV lowboard and caught it in my empty wineglass. He got set free outside. Went to the loo to wash my hands, and what did I find? A spider had made itself at home between cleaning sponge and the tiles. This one did not get relocated...
Because hubby was happily snoring along I got up at seven, cleared the dish-washer out then made breakfast for three. The moment the coffee maker got turned on, hubby appeared from the bedroom. As always. Nothing more to say. It was a quarter after seven- he never gets up so early, save when he is aware that I am up already. At least the morning was quite productive- after the usual housework I did on the upper floor, since daughter, too, was up early. Once again, when cleaning the bedroom, I regretted not having bought the matching cabinet. It's no more available now, which is a real shame, because the old cabinet is ugly. At ten I had finished writing e-mails and switched to slide sorting, even though sis had promised to help me with the job. There are many more boxes she can help sorting. Or bring order to the chaos- someone must have had a field day by mixing the slides up...
After coffee number four and hubby off for shopping I dressed myself warmly and went outside to hack off some ice on the street. Yes, it gets warm during day- four, five degrees are common at the moment. Alas, in the late afternoon we are usually down to zero, and what has thawed during day will freeze again. I want that newspaper deliverer get out of his disco car on the street and no more in our private parking space under the bedroom window. But if he or she takes a tumble on the ice on the street we will be in trouble!
Daughter left after lunch. She had a field day with the jigsaw, a big part is finished now. I continued when she was off, but what had looked so easy with her was hard work- I think I found ten pieces during the time she most probably would have finished the jigsaw. I will have to continue tomorrow morning, when the light will be better. Unfortunately I won´t grow the 10 centimetres in height which enables daughter mine to easily overview her work. Afterwards hubby and I did sift through all available makeup stands in the nearby furniture shops. The one our number three sent us the link to is not available here, and I am not interested in travelling to Wörgl, one of the few places where they still have it, even though there are some really good Asian restaurants on the way there. We wanted to inform son by calling him, but it turned out that this wasn´t necessary- son called. Or in this case Matthäus had snatched his dad´s mobile. Never leave this gadget unsupervised with Whatsapp open, even young children will recognise the pictures of people they know and start a call, if they feel like. Well, Matthäus definitely felt like calling grandpa...
BTW, we came within a whisker of a disaster: Son and DiL had mixed up the days when kindergarten closes, which is during the semester break. I remembered that last year they had sent Elsa, in kindergarten then, to us, while Matthäus was in the day care centre. Apparently the parents forgot that their son is in kindergarten now. Poor grandma in St.Pölten has to take care of both of her grandchildren now. My deepest sympathy to her, and get well soon! We´ll see you in five weeks and hope you will have recovered!
