Unwilling to learn
Feb. 11th, 2026 07:32 pm Supposedly, this concerns hubby as well as me. But when hubby is involved the consequences are more apparent. When I left the house in the early morning, weather was fine (and warm, four degrees because of foehn), even though the weather forecast had talked about rain. Went to bed, woke at eight at the sound of rainfall and hubby swearing loudly- power blackout. As every year because of the same reason- the socket strip of our Christmas lights. It had been protected from rain by plastic foil. This year the lights got turned out early, the chains of lights boxed and in the basement now. Only the socket strip was stripped of foil but not stripped of power. Bad, bad rain! Putting the breaker into the correct position was no problem, but all the clocks on our electric gadgets had to be readjusted- again. Hubby will never learn...
Soon after, daughter called to tell us she was on her way to the doctor- she had fallen ill during work- a bad stomach again. She won't call in sick tomorrow but needed a lift to our house. Hubby picked her up after having screwed together the exercise bike for BiL. Poor guy, 83 now and is expected to run along like a 60 year old to please his wife. But that's my sis, who once wandered from Munich to Venice during her break. No wonder that I am fat and she's a walking skeleton!
Daughter came, ate a bowl of soup (Tütensuppe) then went to sleep her bad stomach off. I went to bed, too, to sleep fatigue off. Woke after a good hour, took my knitting and immediately noticed yesterday's error. I unravelled the second paw and started anew. It's finished now- huzzah! Knitting is done, now on to threading. Definitely not tomorrow, because I will meet up with a friend for a shopping tour...
