Not a good day

I had a pleasant sleep during night, but early in the morning my mobile began to ring. Daughter is sick, she has a slight fever, and the lymph nodes under the left side of her chin are swollen. No sore throat, no sneezing. The one with the sore throat called half an hour later- it´s number four, and he is Covid-positive (but lives at a safe distance). Those children of mine... But sister mine, who is on a visit to Salzburg together with her daughter, isn´t any better. She was the last one to call, and she, too, is sick, as is my niece. Summer minor illness- where do they all get their germs from? Sad thing is that we will have to do our combined birthday dinner later in August. Fine with me, it´s usually sister, my niece, my daughter and me. Three out of four sick, what a bummer!
Family number three is off, even though it took them two unplanned hours more to leave. Son was livid, Cassian nervous, so nervous that hubby found him in his car (he thought he´d go to our house), and DiL and her youngest completely unimpressed by the situation. Hubby is off at their house now, to bring Samsung and Sony in. There´s a minor thunderstorm looming (the big one is announced for nine in the evening), and the cats are used to sleep in the house. Tomorrow morning son´s subtenant will set them free again.
Our lawn went from bad to worse. When doing the bedroom I heard the sound of a lawn mower, soon joined by a second one, a gas mower this time. That alone made me become suspicious, because there´s only one gas mower in our neighbourhood- our own one! I took a look out of the window, and yes, hubby was happily cutting the poor battered grass, to tip it over the edge. For God´s sake, it was 32 degrees already, no clouds (yet), only sun! I hope there will be rain enough during night to start repair work on what´s left of the lawn! Oh, those musicians! But the next days will bring temperatures around 20 degrees, so odds are that grass will recuperate! I hope that this is not the end of summer! A few cold days and nights even colder, and we might have to give up on taking a swim in the pool! I hate the idea of having an early autumn, as we had the last years!
