Aug. 17th, 2022 06:15 pmCake!
No cooking, but baking done today- I made a blackberry sour cream cake with berries from our own garden. I halved the amount of sugar (berries were extremely sweet) but had to be patient with the baking time (went up from 30 to 45 minutes). Something has to be seriously wrong with my oven!

While cake was in the oven, I did a spider hunt in the conservatory. Found a few small ones, which I managed to catch in a glass, and set them free in the garden. But the big ones I did not find. Must be somewhere under the flower shelves or hidden in the pot saucers. Good for the spiders, bad for me. I hate dusting those cobwebs, which appear over night every day...
There's another flaw in the knitting pattern I am doing- while the width of the cardigan is okay, the measurement up to the armpits is too short. So I will have to improve again.
And I thought that this time it would be easy! Hah! Not a bit of it!
It was very warm today, still is, though it's also very windy. Air cond is running, because I forgot to close the bedroom windows and did not roll down the shutters, when hubby and I left the house. Not the best thing you can do, when all residents are out!
We attended the funeral of DiL number one's grandmother in the early afternoon, but did not join the family for a meal in the inn. Seriously, I have seen the old lady for about five times, and for the last six years she was locked up in a special home, being no more able to recognise her children and her only granddaughter. Luckily her daughter made it home for the funeral from her (third? fourth?) holiday trip this year!
Tomorrow weather will be sun mixed with thunderstorms, but number one will come to our house with his sons anyway. He must be stressed out, having to take care of his boys for two whole weeks, before his wife will take over! No walk in the park for number one!
Baby Matthäus is a fast grower- he made ten centimetres in two months! That boy, too, gets after his parents, as does Elsa- not yet three and a half, but 110 centimetres tall. Aunt Lil bought her nephew a playsuit size 68- thanks heavens that summer is almost over, because baby won't be able to wear it for long!
