...,because it gets depressing. The life-threatening summer heat (wherever it was) is finally gone. Five people died yesterday, getting slewn by falling trees, two children among the dead. My son sent me a picture of a public bus with parts of the metal roof of a local supermarket on it. Power poles got felled, electricity went out, rain flooded cellars, hail destroyed what heat left of the crop- but where I live there was nothing out of the ordinary. First no heat, then no storm, no thunderstorm, and only a third, if any, of the rain they had forecasted. My tomatoes stand still upright, the things on the garden table are in place- we were lucky again, as so often this year, and I am glad for it. Now we will sit and wait how much rain will come down from the afternoon on. At the moment sun is out, but it's cool, too cool for my liking!
Might be that I have to pick daughter up this evening. Depends on how FlyDubai will handle their evening flight to Salzburg. Last week they had to cancel it, because landing would have been around midnight, when the airport is already closed. It was said, that if this situation happens again, they'll get a special permission for landing. The chaos the next day had been a huge one, FlyDubai being late again for landing, the passengers for the flight back mingling with those of the other flights (which were many) at the safety check, thusly creating a chaos of epic proportions. Our airport is a small one, though it's the second biggest in our country! Daughter told me that there've been passengers with two wives and a lot of children, and she had to verify 17 passports and visas for one family alone. It also does not help, when each person has two suitcases at least! So if the airline is late again and has special allowance for landing, I will pick daughter up, drop her at her flat then drive back home. There's no public transport at that time, and cabs might be rare with so many moneyed passengers trying to get to their hotels. Besides, cabs are very expensive nowadays! I will take an after-lunch nap, to be prepared! And I just agreed upon a shopping trip with a friend on Monday. There's a lot of things that I want to shop for but haven't done so for a long time!
